What the northern projects would build

The Taltson project would add a 60-megawatt hydro facility. It would also build a 320-kilometre transmission line, with an underwater section, to join the North and South Slave Lake grids for the first time. The Iqaluit project is a proposed 15- to 30-megawatt hydropower plant about 60 km northeast of Iqaluit.

The NWT Métis Nation, Akaitcho Dene First Nations and Salt River First Nation are advancing the Taltson project collaboratively. The Nunavut Nukkiksautiit Corporation, a wholly Inuit-owned developer, leads the Iqaluit project.
