The project is a proposed open-pit nickel-cobalt mine and on-site metal mill, 42 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario. Canada Nickel has not decided to build yet; it is working towards a construction decision in 2027. A decision to build does not mean work starts then.
What has to happen first
Canada Nickel has its federal impact assessment decision. It still needs detailed engineering, project financing, and the remaining provincial and federal permits before it can build.
