Northcliff next plans engineering work to refine equipment choices, layouts and the requirements the design must meet. It also plans to arrange financing for construction and for mining equipment that must be ordered early. Northcliff must meet the conditions of its environmental approvals. This includes the extra requirements added when those approvals were extended. If it decides to build, construction is expected to take 2 years.

What has happened
Wolastoqey agreements
Northcliff has had a Co-Operation Agreement with Wotstak (Woodstock) First Nation since 2017. The Province of New Brunswick also signed an Accommodation Agreement with the Wolastoqey in New Brunswick in 2017.[1]
The Wolastoqey Nation in New Brunswick says it is not yet clear whether the referral will significantly affect its communities’ existing agreements. The Chiefs insist on three things: follow all proper processes, meet the province’s environmental conditions, and keep the accommodations in the signed agreements in place.[6]
